Our Congregational History
Covenanters ARP Church had its beginnings in the Spring of 2001 when a small number of
families began meeting in a home. These families were looking to form a decidedly Reformed
Church which emphasized the place of Scripture, worship and family. They petitioned the
Northeast Presbytery of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Synod to come and conduct and
information session on their denomination. By the Fall of 2001 the group of families were
formally received as a Mission congregation of the Northeast Presbytery. Four families
formed the initial membership of this church.
For the first year Covenanters held two services each Lord's Day with visiting ministers
and students of theology preaching. They also used audio and video resources to supplement
when they had no preacher. A provisional session of elders from Mount Zion ARP Church in
Moncton, NB supplied their pastoral duties. In May 2002 Covenanters unanimously approved
student Kevin Carter to become their Mission Developer and in June of 2002 Kevin Carter was
examined and approved by the Northeast Presbytery to assume those duties. On August 23, 2002
a special service of ordination and installation was held in Kentville and September 1, 2002
Kevin Carter took over pastoral duties for Covenanters.
Since those days Covenanters has matured to nine families of members and adherents. The
congregation covers an expansive territory from Greenwood, Black Rock, Berwick, Centreville,
Wolfville, and even Bedford. Covenanters is poised to become an organized congregation
(having her own elders) in September 2006. We continue to reach out into the community and,
though such growth and labour in the gospel is slow, we trust in the Lord to prosper His
work in His way.

Westminster Confession of Faith
"Religious worship is to be given
to God, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; and to him alone; not to angels,
saints, or any other creature: and, since the fall, not without a
Mediator; nor in the mediation of any other but of Christ
alone."
